The One You Need

The One You Need

After months of sitting on the tune, it’s finally out.

It’s been covered from Sheffield to Australia, LA to Gothenburg, we’ve been overwhelmed with the reception it’s had.

It was recorded at the beginning of 2016 at 2Fly Studios with the magical Dave Sanderson and we’re made up that it’s finally out there.

You can stream the track on Spotify, and download from all the usual outlets including Google, Amazon and iTunes.

If you haven’t seen the video, you can check it out below – as well as the acoustic version.

AMP Festival

We are very pleased to be announced as the Friday night headliners of AMP Festival 2016. The festival takes over the Rocking Chair in Sheffield on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th October.

The line up plays host to some of the best unsigned bands in the UK and we are very pleased to have been asked to play.

This show will kick off our winter tour dates, keep an eye on our socials for latest announcements.

Tickets: £7 day ticket / £11 weekend ticket Tickets

Firstly we’ve got to start by apologising. Apologising that we can’t perform at the Mosborough Music Festival as previously announced. The line up is huge including Reverend and the Makers and some class emerging bands. We’re gutted we can’t now play, but due to personal circumstances we’ve had to pull out of the festival.

Onto Tramlines – Sheffield’s biggest music event of the year and one we love playing. After a quiet year so far of writing, we’ve only played London, Manchester and Sheffield so to get back onto the Leadmill stage after our sold out show earlier in the year it will be special.

We are playing on the Saturday night – 23rd July – alongside some more top bands, but the headliners are yet to be announced… even we don’t know. But what we do know is that you need tickets to get in and tickets are running low.

After last years packed out set on the Crystal stage, we want to go one better this year.

Get down to see us around 8pm where you can catch some old songs, new songs and some surprises.

Bank Holiday Monday… Offers and stuff.

We know we’ve been quiet since our Leadmill show…

Well since that we headed to Manchester’s newest live venue, The Live Room. We had a top night and played a set which we’ve been itching to play. Thank you for turning out again – the support this band gets keeps surprising us!

Up next we’re playing a few festivals, for now we can definitely tell you we’ll be playing the main stage of Mosborough Music Festival alongside Reverend and the Makers. There will be a Tramlines announcement shortly, but leave that with us. We have a few other things bubbling – but let us get back to you.

Over the summer we’ll be locking ourselves away and writing new music. We’ve got a new single and we can’t wait to get it out there, but we’ve got some more ideas in the meantime. If you want us to come and play your town in the autumn/winter, just get in touch with us and we will see what we can do…

And from us to you! For today only you can grab 25% discount on ANYTHING from our online shop – so tees, EP’s, all that. Just enter ‘mayday’ in the coupon field when you’ve filled your basket.

Keep an eye on our social pages and you’ll hear more from us soon.

Thank you, Sheffield.

Last Saturday was something else. Three years ago when we played our first gig we just wanted to take this band and run with it. We’ve ran with it, fallen, got back up and ran some more.

We were chuffed that our EP went down so well last year after taking our time putting one out. But the feeling of walking out to a sold out Leadmill in front of 900 people is indescribable.

Thank yous can’t be expressed enough to Ben at the Leadmill for making it happen, all the staff, sound and crew too. Then our man Jimmy, who was there first minute until last. Our guests Pat on drums (from Black Mamba Fever) and Lydia on keyboards (from The Seamonsters). The Wired were a big part of it too and it’s been nice to see them grow with us over the last year. Then Franko Fraize who started the evening with a big. Not forgetting the wonderful Holmes’/Sheffield Sound on the decks. But of course, thanks to everyone that came down.

There’s going to be some footage knocking around soon as well as various interviews, features and plenty of pictures. Below are a few favourites from the gig!

For us we are pretty quiet now. We’ve one show in Manchester at The Live Room on Friday 22nd April, Mosborough Festival with Reverend & The Makes in June (ticket link coming soon to our shop) and we’ve got a special Tramlines announcement to come – that’s always our favourite festival.

There’s a new single on the way, plus more new material that’s better than ever. Put it this way, 2016 will be interesting…

Back on the road… Kind of.

The last gig we played was in London back in November. We ended 2015 in Hoxton on the night Tyson Fury took over the world and Sheffield’s own Jamie Vardy broke that Premier League record.

On Thursday of last week we were back, this time in Camden. There’s the usual (or unusual) tales of been on the road to tell, but we’ll leave that for now. The Black Heart was full of old and new faces in the crowd, it gave us a chance to debut some new material – all of which went down well.

The gig was the perfect warm up for the show we’ve been grafting for since we started the band. Three years ago this month we were buzzed to have sold out our first ever gig in front of 100 people, next Saturday we play a sold out Leadmill with 900 people packed in to hear our songs. Dreams, eh?

If you haven’t got a ticket, keep an eye across our social media throughout the week and next Saturday. We’ll post as much as we can for all to see.

If you’ve got a ticket, see you in 7 days. You’re in for something special.

The SSS - Nov 2015

Less than 50 tickets to go until our biggest show yet is sold out…

We can’t quite believe it either.

But on Saturday 19th March we take to the legendary stage at the Leadmill, supported by The Wired and Franko Fraize. The line up is brilliant, our new songs are pretty good if we say so ourselves and you lot have surpassed our expectations in terms of numbers. We’re going to thank you with a free download next week, stay tuned.

Currently just over 850 people have bought tickets for the show. That means there is less than 50 tickets left. Don’t miss out on this. This is the biggest show The SSS has done so far.

Tickets: Leadmill, Sheffield – 19|03|16

What a wonderful year it has been…

Firstly we’ve got to say thank you. We won’t draw it out and give you every single reason, but thank you if you made the effort to watch us live, listen to us and buy the music we work so hard to make. Huge thanks to our Tour Manager Jimmy for driving us all around the country at daft hours, and to Jason who constantly delivers with the photography.

We’ve now played our last gig of the year (that isn’t us over and done with for 2015 just yet though) but they weren’t all as good as they finished this month. We’ve travelled miles in a freezing van to go and play to empty rooms and sound engineers, and we’ve had nightmare shows with technical difficulties and strings snapping at the worst times – but we’ve enjoyed it all and it’s all made us a better band.

Playing the Isle of Wight Festival was something else, playing support on a few tours like The View’s was class and sold out shows in Sheffield and London did really overwhelm us. Check out all the pictures on our Gallery page and that’ll show you what a year we’ve had! We have had to sensor this though, things did get weird at points…

Onto 2016 and we can’t wait. We’ve already got things lined up which we wish we could do tomorrow. Speaking of tomorrow (Monday 30th November), we are going to announce the biggest and best thing we plan to do yet.

Have a great Christmas (our EP and new t-shirts would go down an absolute storm by the way as gifts) and we will see you very soon.

In Session with Exposed Magazine

So a few weeks back in October we teamed up with Exposed Magazine, Queens Road Social Club and Mu Studios (plus the talented film crew) to record a few in session tracks.

After being crowned the ‘Best Unsigned Band’ at the Exposed Awards back in March it was nice to team up with them to perform two tracks from our first EP; ‘Calm Before The Storm’ and ‘Into The Sun’. These two songs are up there as our favourites and if you know them, they mean a lot to us.
